KOVAL Whiskey and Vosges Chocolate Pairings

In honor of National Chocolate Day, we teamed up with our friends at Vosges Chocolate to create three elevated whiskey and chocolate pairings. Enjoy these sophisticated flavor combinations any day of the year and celebrate the harmonious sensations of craft whiskey and fine chocolates.

Four Grain Whiskey + Caramel Marshmallows
KOVAL Four Grain Whiskey is distilled from a one-of-a-kind mash bill of oat, malted barley, rye and wheat. The four grains define this whiskey’s depth with a banana nose, creamy palate and spicy finish.

To create these Caramel Marshmallows, Vosges hand whips Madagascar Bourbon Island vanilla marshmallow and layers it between bubbling burnt sugar caramel with a touch of French Guérande grey sea salt and organic walnuts and pecans. The final pressing of marshmallow and caramel is enrobed in 62 percent dark chocolate and crowned with walnuts and pecans. A luxurious twist to the comfort food classic.

Vosges Rooster Truffle and KOVAL Bourbon

Single Barrel Bourbon + The Rooster Truffle
KOVAL Single Barrel Bourbon is distilled with 51 percent corn and 49 percent millet instead of the usual rye or wheat supplement. It opens with notes of mango chutney, giving way to a hint of vanilla and custard with a spiced caramel finish.

Sip this uniquely Chicago bourbon alongside the Rooster Truffle, a combination of Taleggio cheese, walnuts, Madagascar vanilla bean and 62 percent cacao bittersweet chocolate. It’s a favorite of Vosges founder and chocolatier Katrina Markoff who says it was “born out of a wager and struggled into existence during six months of many late nights and rising suns.”  

Mo's Milk Bacon Chocolate Bar with KOVAL Rye Whiskey

Single Barrel Rye Whiskey + Mo’s® Milk Bacon Chocolate Bar
Like all KOVAL whiskeys, our our Single Barrel Rye is distilled from only the heart cut of the distillate, with no heads or tails. Aged in medium charred American oak barrels from Minnesota, it has spiced apple and butterscotch notes with a peppery finish.

Mo’s® Milk Bacon Chocolate Bar is crafted with fruitwood smoked uncured bacon, Alderwood smoked salt and 45 percent cacao dark milk chocolate. The Mo’s® line was inspired by Katrina’s love or smoky, salty and sweet discovered as a child when her bacon made its way into the syrup spilling from a stack of chocolate chip pancakes. Alderwood smoked salt exudes a campfire aroma and perfectly offsets the sweetness of the chocolate.
